Squash: It’s not just for decoration anymore

Apparently people eat squash, so this fall (maybe tonight) I am going to try an oven-baked butternut squash recipe.  If no review on this meal in the coming days, assume I have accidentally poisoned and killed myself and Miklos.  In case that happens, here is a picture of me as two ghosts in the park that I forgot about until just now: Share the post “Squash: It’s not just for decoration anymore” FacebookXShare… Continue reading

Garlic > You

For those who might not know, lately I’ve been cooking a lot. Since adulthood, I’ve been a fan of crushing garlic into just about everything I make in some form. I think you should do it too. Good, quick read about it here: The Health and Medicinal Benefits of Garlic Warning: Do not eat if starring in New Moon. Share the post “Garlic > You” FacebookXShare… Continue reading

They All Must Scoop

For a long, long time as past housemates will agree, Rico has had a problem with barfing daily all over the place. The vet suggested he simply has a weak stomach, or he’s eating too fast. Well, one day after a good petting session, Rico stood up and started to cough up a hairball. It was to no avail. I went out and bought a kittymalt the next day, which I’ll admit I’ve been pretty lax in giving him, but it seemed to help the … Continue reading

You’re the devil in me

We’re going to see District 9 tonight, which I know nothing about, except that there’s something about aliens (or Mary) involved in it. I’ll do it because Miklos’s sister is a peach and we have movie passes because of her. Went for sushi with Heather today for the first time in a while. It was refreshing, although we didn’t get to go to Sushi Jade because it’s now something of a condemned building instead of a restaurant. Which I kind of expected, after the last … Continue reading

Summertime, and the livin’ is easy

John Smith and his dad are working on building a [hopefully safe] pit in the garage so that his dad can fix cars with greater ease. I’m hoping in the process of chipping away concrete and digging today they manage to find an antique grand piano or maybe a nugget of gold so that we can pay our way through life. Even a box of money would be pretty cool. I’m not picky. Yesterday was all about sweating buckets and seeking out fonts and reducing … Continue reading

Burning bridges and it feels so good…

Miklos agrees with me that there’s something definitely askew with that part of the highway in the rain where I almost went out of control today. Which is good because it means that I can still know him. Also good: Cranberry juice. And those square wafer cookies that are covered in a layer of chocolate. Man, that’s good. Apparently we had them at the island all weekend and I was none the wiser. Next time, Island. Fool me once, shame on you. What’s with summer … Continue reading

Party Time

Life is getting expensive. I’m considering bringing grocery shopping back in style again instead of eating at restaurants and having chocolate for breakfast every day. (Not every day…) School’s out and we’re doing all sorts of crazy things! Like going out again… for dinner. Share the post “Party Time” FacebookXShare… Continue reading

But yeah so no.

Boston Pizza tonight with Miklos. A crazy old bag lady with a shopping cart from Zellers came in the door at the same time we did, and dazedly wheeled herself into the washroom for the exact duration of time we spent there. The waitresses joked that we could take her home now, since she clearly came in with us. “Yeah, that’s my mom…” I said, later joking that I’d text her and get her outta there. A towel on your head is no way to … Continue reading

I was pretty sure I couldn’t do it, but it only took me from 2pm until now to read the three disgustingly long chapters I needed to, with just one break to eat a [horrible] packet of Thai noodles [that cook up like Mr Noodles which has sent my stomach into an effervescent spiral of hellishness] so that I didn’t starve. I should’ve just eaten dirt off the kitchen floor. Plenty for all! This morning, I enjoyed breakfast with Garth. That was a nice switch! … Continue reading
