Early Morning Bluez

This is easily the earliest I have been up in a very long time.  My nightmare job actually gives me bad dreams now.  That’s always welcome! So I woke up and put some Advantage on the dog, some of which I hope got on her actual skin, seeing as she has like 8 layers of thick short fur in the way of it.  Yep, being some form of an adult is pretty eventful.  I may even buy a humidifier filter one day soon.  Oh, the… Continue reading

American vs British Humour

An excerpt from an article written by Ricky Gervais: There’s a received wisdom in the U.K. that Americans don’t get irony. This is of course not true. But what is true is that they don’t use it all the time. It shows up in the smarter comedies but Americans don’t use it as much socially as Brits. We use it as liberally as prepositions in every day speech. We tease our friends. We use sarcasm as a shield and a weapon. We avoid sincerity until… Continue reading

The Dog & I

The dog is an itch-bag and so today I’m feeding her a tiny bit of garlic in her food to eliminate any chance of fleas. It’s no problem for me, as I can only smell anything half of the time, but apparently she smells.  Brewer’s yeast is effective as well, and won’t kill Mixi if she ingests some of Casey’s food as she tends to do, so that’s next to add to my Cupboard Full of Old People Crap. Today at Commatose Towers we have… Continue reading

Ball Rolling

I’ve decided on wedding colours.  This sets the tone of the wedding overall (I think), and so now I have the kind of dress I want in mind.  No one seems to have it though, not on the internet, so I shudder to look at dresses in a shop.  Is it terribly unlikely that in seven (7) months’ time I could become a master seamstress and customize my own gown?  I used to draw clothes all the time and I was pretty good at it.… Continue reading

Quickly! Asteroid in half an hour!

Grab your 6-8 inch or larger telescopes and perch them outside if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere tonight because this 400 metre asteroid will be even closer to Earth than the moon; 3/4 of the distance to the moon to be exact.  I’m excited!  Oh, except that I don’t have a telescope, so if someone should see it, please tell me how cool it was.  Should start around 6:28pm. Oh and it could hit Earth 100 years from now.  I don’t know, 400 metres?  That… Continue reading

El Politico

It seems recently that the Liberal Press Secretary’s Twitter account and I have been at odds every couple of weeks. First was my annoyance that gastric bypass surgery is OHIP covered (which, I agree, is a very necessary procedure) yet basic dental is not, for most people.  I mentioned Dalton McGuinty in my tweet, so naturally, @LibPressSec, not @Dalton_McGuinty,  then replied to tell me about Healthy Smiles, a program whereby children 17 and under are covered for basic dental in specific institutions, as long as… Continue reading

I’m a Dink

I made a smart Alec remark tonight (who, me?) about how by the time we got home from our grocery shop, there’d be at least two (2) comments on each of our Facebook news feeds about how dark it got so early tonight.  Turns out I was living in a fool’s paradise, because as I put the groceries away, I noticed the clock read ‘5:49PM’ and I was taken aback for a split second realizing it wasn’t actually 7 or 8 at night.  And of… Continue reading

Vitamin D

First week of November has been milder than most weeks in October.  Go figure.  I saw a girl wearing flip-flops yesterday and I’ll admit I was jealous.  I have a condition which causes my legs to fall apart in any shoes except for spongy flip-flops.  ‘Spongy’ is spelled without an E?  Really? 2010/2011’s winter was very uneventful for pictures.  2011/2012’s will be better, because I will actually make sure to take them.  This year there’s the advantage of having a new yard and a new… Continue reading
