Mmm, Savings

Coffee from a pot, even a premium blend, is half as cheap as K-Cups (so I’m guessing Tassimo too), is more environmentally sound, and it tastes better.  I mean, I could’ve done the math myself but why bother when someone else is willing?  Overall both costs make me happy I don’t buy from Tim Hortons much anymore (except during Rim time). I guess there is a way to recycle Tassimo discs.  Dump the non-plastic contents (grinds, whatever) into organics.  Or just stick to the coffee pot.… Continue reading

LOVE!

Valentine’s Day is coming up after all.  Valentine’s Day is Casey’s birthday, so the most fun part of it (besides going to work for the evening and making meager wages) is that we make a treat for her.  We’re thinking wet+dry food with a small “1” cut out of cheese.  She loves cheese.  She’ll be so impressed before she devours and forgets about it for another year. I dug through the past 3 years on Flickr and realized they have flown by wonderfully, and colourfully!… Continue reading

Jack of All Trades, Master of None

Today while almost being late for work, I came up with this little doozy. As has always been my opinion, the best part of having long hair is the ability to pull it back as if it’s short again.  Such a nuisance.  As described on my Flickr page, I have never seen anyone else do this, so I’m calling it the Pocket Flip (TM/patent pending). Veterinarian’s Day

This cat has been with me through my entire adult life so far.  He’s turning eight years old this year, which isn’t very old in cat years but seems to make me feel super old.  Tomorrow Rico and I will head to the vet to sort out some of his weird issues.  He hasn’t lost any weight but he’s developed some new and icky habits which I won’t totally get into.  He seems otherwise healthy, as do the other animals in our dwelling. So why… Continue reading

A Farewell to Arms

I finally finished reading this Hemingway novel.  It took a very long time.  I’ve never been one to appreciate the classics, so it’s not worth criticizing me that.  The end was kind of worth the entire read, I guess.  If anything, it did teach me a few lessons in writing: Do not take 180 (eBook) pages before the first interesting thing happens. Do not then spend 70 more pages rambling until the next interesting thing happens. Always make characters likable, so that if you do… Continue reading

Pink River Dolphin: Not as cute as you’d pink

I was reading up on the river dolphin (because that’s what I do when I finally have days off coming and/or when Wii Fit tells me to take a break or else it’s possible I will develop chest pains/arm tingling).  So anyway, they’re a pretty bland species, except that there are PINK ones.  Immediately, I did a Google Image search.  Almost as immediately,  I realized that living things that are pink always just look rather fleshy and not as fun as their colour would suggest… Continue reading

A ‘Wii’ Milestone

A happy birthday to my wonderful Auntie Lynn, and a happy birthday to me as today I am 20 years old in Wii Fit Age!   Also, happy birthday to all those groundhogs out there.  Today, we all win. Oh, me?  I’m just here blogging ’cause the Wii Fit told me to take a fitness break.  Guess my Wii trainer was worried I was getting a Wii bit too buff.  Steady, Wii Fit.  I’m doing juuuuust fine.
