Weekend

I can see why Saturdays are so popular.  So far today we’ve gone to lunch at a Chinese buffet to listen to toilet stories from the table next to us, spent money on practical and necessary items, vacuumed and, yes sir, I am planning to do some laundry and make a lasagna soon. It’s so nice not to know you.

Surround yourself with only positive and/or realistic people.  It makes an enormous impact.  If there are consistently negative and selfish people, hold on to the good memories (if any) and let those people go.  It’s not worth it to drag along a constant anchor of loathing.  Just be around the good folks, help each other through the bad times and always make a mental note when you get to enjoy the good times.   And the indifferent times.  Those are good too. The Hunt is On

Yesterday on our drive around the entire universe, we managed to see a red-tailed hawk in hunting mode.  It was the first time either of us had seen this.  It didn’t manage to catch any of these birds, but we did see one on the other side of the region a few hours later who landed on the ground in a field and snatched something up in his clutches.  Very cool.  Hawks were everywhere yesterday. Get offa my mountain!

I am probably an awful person for finding this story so funny. Mountain man terrifying Utah cabin owners. I guess it’s less funny when it’s not happening to you, and/or more funny when you currently wake up three times a night to check on your car and see if you need to chase anyone down the street with your old closet rod.  Ah, good old relateable news. Going Pro

The resolution of this milestone photo is due to a crappy Blackberry camera, not the TV on which the age was displayed. I “for real legit” felt physically weak for … a week. I was waiting for a toe or two to mend before I got back into my routine tonight.  This was a nice (but deserving) surprise.  I worked hard tonight.  I wouldn’t have wanted to smell me.  Also, ahhh, the stress relief.  This week has been non-stop and it was good to get… Continue reading

And it didn’t take me a month!

The Hunger Games is a brilliantly dark and fun read. I don’t care how emo that makes me sound.  I don’t know if this is another of those Harry Potter/Twilight fad books (and since Katniss Everdeen’s name keeps coming up on Doodle or Die I’m guessing it is) but it kept my interest the whole way through and turned out to be a really great read.  Thank you, 17 year old girl I know who recommended it. And speaking of 17 year old girls, bad… Continue reading
