The Elevator Times

Just now on the way up from the laundry room, I held the elevator for a couple of weirdos. “Laundry day, eh?” said the girl, looking at the basket I held in my hands.“Yep… best day of the week,” I mused.“Yeaaaah!” said the girl. “Get ya clean clothes, go out ‘n party??”“…you got it.” My neighbours know me so well. Not a creature was stirring, not even a …

I dedicate this poem to the lowly critter we caught trying to steal hubcaps from a vehicle in the driveway last night. He left at the scene (1) a screwdriver, (2) the hubcap he meant to take with him, (3) a freshly picked tomato from the garden, and (4) a sullied reputation. And Miklos in his kerchief (or the bathroom) and I in my cap (or PJs),We’d just settled down (or were about to) for a long summer’s nap (or sleep); When out of the yard,… Continue reading

Thanks for the fab painting of Yours Truly. I hung it on me wall.

Miklos is now selling prints. He’s really good, so I think you should check them out and show them to anyone you know who has a bare wall they’d like to spruce up with a couple photos. He’s also good for naturally-lit portraits, baby photos, and monumental events like 80th birthdays and bar mitzvahs. Even though the word ‘bar mitzvah’ is a giggle-maker to the non-celebrators, I am entirely serious. Contact either him or me if interested. On the weekends and weeknights, he’s even willing… Continue reading

District 9

Not to knock District 9, but both before and after District 9 were better than District 9. But District 9 was okay for a silly alien flick. I guess. Although I think I slept through most of District 9. It’s 4 months til Christmas, god help us. Share the post “District 9” FacebookPinterestShare…Email Continue reading

You’re the devil in me

We’re going to see District 9 tonight, which I know nothing about, except that there’s something about aliens (or Mary) involved in it. I’ll do it because Miklos’s sister is a peach and we have movie passes because of her. Went for sushi with Heather today for the first time in a while. It was refreshing, although we didn’t get to go to Sushi Jade because it’s now something of a condemned building instead of a restaurant. Which I kind of expected, after the last… Continue reading

(You had to be there) AKA (For my own memory’s sake)

Hidden and periodically updated notes; I did a similar “Note to Self” type memo when I was 8; I found it when I was around 15 and laughed at how ghey I was. “It smells like a pencil…” “What kind of tree is that?” “A weed maple.” “Hey, Larry David! Can you sign my arm?” *Randy signs arm ‘RANDY’, shrugs and walks away* Better get to bed. Work in the morning again. Ugh. Life. Share the post “(You had to be there) AKA (For my… Continue reading

I just saw an accident on the 406. Well, I saw the aftermath, and it gave me a giant headache because of my road paranoia and the fact that this happened about a minute ahead of where I was. I’ve never seen that highway come to a screeching halt; it took me completely by surprise when I had to brake hard and slow right down to 0. I won’t describe the accident scene here. I hope the person was all right. Share the post “”… Continue reading

Better hurry…

What a bargain! When I was 17, my friends and I used to ‘ghost-hunt’. It was a fun way to stay up late, scare the (figurative, in my case) crap out of ourselves, and the stories we ended up with would last each of us a lifetime. And those ghosthunts were all for FREE! So just think what kind of shit you’ll be able to tell those willing to listen to you for the price of two Canada’s Wonderland tickets and an experience involving absolutely… Continue reading

Summertime, and the livin’ is easy

John Smith and his dad are working on building a [hopefully safe] pit in the garage so that his dad can fix cars with greater ease. I’m hoping in the process of chipping away concrete and digging today they manage to find an antique grand piano or maybe a nugget of gold so that we can pay our way through life. Even a box of money would be pretty cool. I’m not picky. Yesterday was all about sweating buckets and seeking out fonts and reducing… Continue reading
