Rip Taylor

I just had a terrifying experience. I was putting my pants back on after taking a midday shower, when I began to notice they were really, really tight. Suddenly, and to my horror, from the pants I was struggling to pull on, there rang out a loud ripping noise causing me to gasp in fear. Panicking, I inspected the jeans back-and-front to diagnose how repairable the hole would be. Turned out though, fortunately, that I had simply removed my pants without unzipping them, and the… Continue reading

Summertime…

It’s Gasoline Price Hike Season again, and I will never, ever understand why there are regulations on the sale of just about everything, except for gas, which gets to be whatever price the oil giants want it to be, even though it should really be about 20-25 cents less per litre than we’re paying. I made a surprisingly good Earl Grey tea just now. Although I don’t like the tone in which this article is written, you get the gist. Basically, Governor General Michaelle Jean… Continue reading

Economic Peril

“Can I get $20 cashback?”“Yep. Oh… sorry, we don’t do cash advances” [as customer hands cashier her Visa]“Oh…. well my daughter wants to go to Starbucks.” [looks frustrated] [debit declines her extra $20] Maybe it’s time a few of us made some lifestyle changes. I mean, this recession thing’s not exactly new anymore. Share the post “Economic Peril” FacebookPinterestShare…Email Continue reading

Real Estate… Agent Maaaan

Tonight: Investigated area of fire I noticed happening last night between Towpath Rd. and Highway 406 While investigating, observing the hollow area that seemed to lie beyond the otherwise apparent forest and noting the overpowering smell of something burned, we almost took a nosedive off the side of the road and into a creek lying a good distance below the level of the road 30 minutes later, avoided near-collision with both a raccoon and a guardrail (kudos to Miklos‘s fancy footwork there; AAPEX Driving Academy… Continue reading

Blinky: The Silent Cleaner

I got Blinky yesterday after resigning myself to the fact that my angelfish probably isn’t going to die any time soon, and as such, he probably isn’t going to start licking the algae he and his surroundings produce off the side of the aquarium. According to the place I bought him, Blinky is a ‘rubber lip’, which sounds kind of mafia-esque. He eats algae, and he does it quite well. Thing is, since I got him, the dirt has dramatically disappeared, which is great, but… Continue reading

Bring on the Blue Sky

If you want to hear a podcast interview of a guy who reminded me a lot of Bob Dylan long before he even started talking about Bob Dylan in this interview, give this a listen. I like Jason Collett as a musician, but trust me: No one who grew up in Bramalea is going to have an accent like that. Anyway, he really is an enjoyable Canadian musician when he’s not talking. Graduate of…

Grades are up, and that means it’s official. I can start remembering what life was like before I had some kind of credentials, except for the massive amount of student debt I’ll be paying back in the coming years. I’ll update more later. Just felt guilty for leaving the blog sitting here all by its lonesome for a few days. Share the post “Graduate of…” FacebookPinterestShare…Email Continue reading
